1 What is Aniyaa? expand_more

An Android app for browsing nyaa.si without a web browser. You can search, filter, bookmark, and send a download to a torrent app you already have.

2 Is this official? expand_more

No. Aniyaa is unofficial and is not affiliated with or endorsed by nyaa.si or sukebei.nyaa.si.

3 Does Aniyaa download torrents? expand_more

No. It finds listings. A torrent app such as LibreTorrent, Flud, or qBittorrent handles the actual download after you tap magnet or save the .torrent file.

4 What Android version do I need? expand_more

Android 7.0 (API 24) or newer, plus an internet connection. Material You wallpaper colors need Android 12+.

5 Android blocked the install expand_more

Aniyaa is not on Play Store, so Android will warn that the app is from an unknown source. Open the downloaded APK, choose Install anyway, and allow your browser or Files app to install packages if a switch appears.

6 Will an update wipe my bookmarks? expand_more

No. Install a newer APK over the old one. Bookmarks, history, and saved searches stay on the device.

7 I used Sukiniyaa before expand_more

Install Aniyaa separately. The two apps use different package names, so one cannot update the other. Export a backup from Sukiniyaa and import it in Aniyaa Settings if you want to keep saved data.

8 How do I enable Sukebei? expand_more

It is off by default. In Settings, turn on Enable Sukebei (18+) if you are 18 or older. Nyaa / Sukebei chips then appear on Search.

9 nyaa.si will not load expand_more

If the catalog is blocked on your network, set a mirror URL for that catalog in Settings. Aniyaa still only talks to the catalog you configure.

10 Where is my data stored? expand_more

On the phone. There is no Aniyaa account. Export or reset local data from Settings. See the privacy page.

11 Can I pick my torrent app? expand_more

Yes. Settings has a preferred torrent app. First launch also walks through that choice during onboarding.

12 How do I build from source? expand_more

You need JDK 17 and the Android SDK. Clone the repo and run ./gradlew assembleDebug. Signed releases publish when a v*.*.* tag is pushed.
